Woodie's DIY will show you how to change a flush handle because occasionally flush handles will break down or give up.

How to do it

Step 1

Step 1

Remove the lid from the top of the cistern of the toilet and set aside in a safe place.

Step 2

Unhook the metal 'C' link connected to the 'Handle Lift Arm' inside the cistern. If you can’t do this using your fingers, use a needle nose pliers.

Step 3

Loosen the screw that clamps the 'Handle Lift Arm' to the flush handle.

Step 4

Remove the nut inside the cistern that holds the handle in place. Screw off in a clockwise direction, as this is a reverse threaded nut. Use the adjustable wrench if necessary.

Remove the old flush handle.

Step 6

Insert the new flush handle and replace the nut on the handle inside the cistern. Tighten the nut using the adjustable wrench.

Step 7

Re-attach the 'Handle Lift Arm' on to the end of the new flush handle, then hook back on the metal 'C' link.

Step 8

Tighten the screw that secures the 'Handle Lift Arm' to the handle.

Step 9

Step 9

Test the handle to make sure the toilet is flushing properly.

Step 10

Step 10

Replace the lid on the cistern to complete the job.
