Decide where you would like to fix your object. Carry out some visual checks on the wall for sockets or switches. For extra safety, use a multi-purpose detector to make sure there are no wires or cables running behind the spot. Mark with a pencil.
Attach the required size masonry bit to your drill, set your drill to hammer action and drill your hole to the depth required. You can use a depth gauge on the drill to note this depth or mark the drill bit with a piece of masking tape so you know when to stop.
Insert your rawl plug into the hole, making sure it is flush with the wall – use a hammer to do this if necessary.
Insert your screw into the wall. Leave it protruding slightly to attach your mirror or picture.
Hang your object on the screw.
