Woodie's DIY will show you how to clean and rejuvenate your tarmac. These driveways can look tired and dated with a lot of weed growth and stains but this treatment will bring it back to life.

How to do it

Step 1

Step 1

Before starting this job, check the weather and make sure it’s going to be a clear day. Remove dirt, moss, lichen, dust or loose material using a trowel / paint scraper and by brushing with a stiff bristle brush.

Step 2

Step 2

If required, use an oil & drive cleaner to remove any existing oil/grease deposits and to clean driveways prior to application. Leave the cleaner on for the time indicated in instructions.

Step 3

Step 3

Hose down the area with a power washer or alternatively rinse the tarmac with water and brush the area to be coated - this will remove all surface debris. Check the existing surface and if necessary fill any holes or surface imperfections with a suitable cold cure tarmac in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Step 4

Step 4

Plan how you are going to apply the seal. Make sure that you have an exit point when you have finished the job – you don’t want to trap yourself in a corner! Drive Seal can be applied using a long pile roller on damp, but not saturated surfaces. Using a roller tray, load the roller fully and apply in an even coat ensuring all irregularities are covered.

Step 5

Step 5

Leave to dry for the time indicated in instructions. If necessary apply a second coat. For best results the seal should be left overnight before parking vehicles on it or subjecting it to heavy foot traffic.

Step 6

Step 6

Now the tarmac is completely clean and rejuvenated.
